Paul Kariya Joins the QUEST Board of Directors

Vancouver, British Columbia – April 21, 2016. QUEST – Quality Urban Energy Systems of Tomorrow, announced today that Paul Kariya, Executive Director of Clean Energy BC, joined the QUEST Board of Directors.

QUEST is a non-profit organization that conducts research, engagement and advocacy to advance Smart Energy Communities in Canada. Smart Energy Communities improve energy efficiency, enhance reliability, cut costs, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

“Paul Kariya is a strong addition to the QUEST Board of Directors,” said Michael Harcourt, Chair of the Board, “and he brings a wealth of experience from the public, private and non-profit sectors with expertise in public policy issues that impact the environment, first nations and rural and remote communities.”

Prior his role as Executive Director of Clean Energy BC, Mr. Kariya was the Executive Director of the Pacific Salmon Foundation. He has also worked in the public sector at the federal and provincial level. He was CEO of the provincial crown corporation, Fisheries Renewal BC and Executive Director of the BC Treaty Commission.

Mr. Kariya stated, “I am thrilled to have joined the Board of QUEST whose name is synonymous with integrity, innovation and taking action in the community energy leadership space in Canada.” He further said, “I know that with Mike Harcourt as Chair of QUEST, big challenges like the response to climate change across various institutional boundaries are going to get tackled through the advancement of Smart Energy Communities.”
