Marta Kelly Joins the QUEST Board of Directors

Saint John, New Brunswick – September 17, 2019

QUEST is pleased to announce that Marta Kelly, has joined the Board of Directors.

Marta Kelly is the Vice President, Finance at the YMCA of Greater Saint John.  Prior to this, she was the Vice President of Finance and Administration at Saint John Energy where she worked for almost 20 years.  Ms. Kelly was a founding member of Sustainable Saint John and has worked extensively with energy efficiency projects and initiatives in New Brunswick.  

Marta is a Chartered Professional Accountant and holds an MBA and BBA from the University of New Brunswick in Saint John.

“We are extremely pleased that Marta has joined the QUEST Board of Directors,” said Michael Cleland, Chair of the Board. “She brings expertise in finance and administration, the utility sector, and passion and dedication to advancing Smart Energy Communities.”

Marta joins a Board of Directors with reach from the Atlantic to the Pacific coast and with expertise in oil and gas, building and development, cleantech, federal, provincial and municipal governance, community engagement, business and finance, and Indigenous affairs.

“Over a decade ago, QUEST identified the need to shift Canadians thinking to appreciate the importance of how we use energy in our communities as it relates to our economic and environmental objectives,” said Marta Kelly. “This resulted in much more than collaboration, it initiated a national movement and an engaged a network of leaders across Canada working to build Smart Energy Communities. I am delighted to officially join the movement and formally join the QUEST team.”

The organization commissions research, communicates best practices, convenes government, utility, and private-sector leaders, and works directly with local authorities to implement on-the-ground solutions. QUEST recognizes communities that have embraced these principles by referring to them as Smart Energy Communities.
