Ottawa, Ontario – April 20, 2017. Today, QUEST announced that nominations are now open for the 2017 Smart Energy Communities Awards, which will be presented November 7, 2017 at QUEST’s 11th Annual Conference and Tradeshow, QUEST2017 – Smart Energy Communities on the Hill in Ottawa.

The Smart Energy Communities Awards are presented annually to recognize leadership and innovation in advancing Smart Energy Communities in Canada through: Energy Integration, Energy Efficiency, Energy Collaboration, and the Broader Good. The categories represent the three principal Smart Energy Community sectors: (1) Local Public Service Sector, (2) Real Estate Sector and (3) Utility and Energy Service Providers.

“Through our national network of 8 provincial and regional Caucuses, their related Working Groups, and with a reach of thousands of stakeholders, we’re seeing the adoption of Smart Energy Communities.” said Brent Gilmour, Executive Director of QUEST. “The awards provide a great national platform to recognize the governments, utilities & energy service providers, the real-estate sector, and the product and professional service sector leaders that are making sure Smart Energy Communities are a reality across Canada.” said Gilmour.

The nomination period for the Smart Energy Communities Awards is open from April 20, 2017 until July 19, 2017. Finalists will be announced on October 4, 2017, with award winners being honoured at the QUEST2017 Gala Dinner & Awards Ceremony on November 7, 2017, at the Delta Hotel Ottawa City Centre.
