AUC Hydrogen Inquiry

by

Mar 8, 2022

While Hydrogen is often considered part of the electrification pathway as an input to clean electricity generation, we know full well that electrification alone cannot meet the thermal needs of Albertans, Alberta communities and Alberta’s industry on its own. Scaling electricity supply to meet thermal and transportation loads simultaneously would require unprecedented investment, unpalatable electricity prices for Albertans, and is also likely to get push back from local communities resistant to significant new electricity transmission, intertie, and nuclear infrastructure within or near their municipal boundaries.
