Call for Expressions of Interest – Canada Wide – Now Closed
We are seeking small to mid-sized communities interested in accelerating projects and plans to save energy and emissions to participate in a 3-year Net-Zero Communities Accelerator Program.
Eligible applicants include local governments (Indigenous, municipal, regional or a group of small communities and/or Indigenous communities), or organizations applying on behalf of a local government or a group of local governments (e.g. a local energy distributor, Indigenous group, or not-for-profit organization). Applications are being accepted from across Canada. For more information download the project backgrounder.
If you are interested in submitting an Expression of Interest please complete the following information by October 17, 2021.
Please note that this is a call for expressions of interest to gauge interest in such a program and to support a funding application that will be submitted in October 2021. Funding is not yet confirmed. QUEST will provide updates to applicants as we receive news.
Call for Expressions of Interest – Western Canada – Now Closed
QUEST, Eco-West Canada, and the Community Energy Association are seeking small- to mid-sized communities interested in accelerating projects and plans to save energy and emissions to participate in a 2-year Net-Zero Communities Accelerator Program.
The purpose of the program is to establish a community energy and emissions accelerator to equip a group of communities in Western Canada with the tools and knowledge to develop and implement high-impact projects and community energy and emissions plans and understand the economic benefit they can provide.
Eligible applicants include local governments (Indigenous, municipal, regional or a group of small municipalities and/or bands), or organizations applying on behalf of a local government or a group of local governments (e.g. a local energy distributor or not-for-profit organization). What is the purpose of this program?
The purpose of the program is to establish a community energy and emissions accelerator to equip Canadian communities with the tools and knowledge to develop and implement high-impact projects and community energy and emissions plans and understand the economic benefit they can provide.
Why is there a national and a western call for expressions of interest?
Both the national and western calls for expressions of interest are designed to gauge interest in a three-year Net-Zero Communities Accelerator Program. Funding is not yet confirmed and all submissions will support funding applications for the program.
Should my community submit to the national or western call for expressions of interest?
All communities that have made a submission to the western program will automatically be considered for the national program. If you have submitted an expression of interest to the western program, you do not need to re-submit. You will be contacted directly on the next steps.
Is my community a good size for this program?
We are seeking small to mid-sized communities with populations less than 100,000. We are encouraging small communities that apply to partner with neighbouring communities.
What happens after my community submits an expression of interest?
All communities that have made a submission will be contacted in the following weeks directly by email or by phone with information on the next steps.
