SUMMARY:Charging Ahead Together: Municipal Fleet Electrification in New Brunswick
DESCRIPTION:Join us online for the next meeting of our New Brunswick Net-Zero Communities Accelerator Program Working GroupMunicipalities across New Brunswick are advancing important work on climate action\, energy transition\, and building resilient local infrastructure. As part of this effort\, many communities are exploring opportunities to electrify municipal vehicle fleets as a pathway to reduce emissions\, lower long-term operating costs\, and modernize public infrastructure. \nHowever\, at the same time\, municipalities are navigating practical questions related to fleet transition planning\, charging infrastructure\, procurement processes\, and operational readiness. These challenges can be particularly pronounced for smaller and rural municipalities\, where geographic distance\, infrastructure limitations\, and resource constraints can make fleet electrification more complex. \nCharging Ahead Together: Municipal Fleet Electrification in New Brunswick\nIn partnership with Clean Foundation\, QUEST Canada’s one-hour workshop – March 31st from 2:30 pm-3:30 pm Atlantic Time – will create a collaborative learning space for municipal staff\, technical experts\, and regional partners to explore practical approaches to municipal fleet electrification. \nThe session will focus on sharing lessons learned\, identifying common barriers\, and highlighting strategies that can support municipalities as they plan and implement fleet transitions. \nRegister Now! \nIf you’d like further information\, please write to meeting host Aaliyah Lahai\, Lead\, Community Energy Planning & Projects\, QUEST Canada. \nHave a ‘Big’ Question about Community Energy in New Brunswick? \nBe sure to send in you community energy transition question ahead of time – and we’ll assure it’s answered well during the session. \n Register for the March 31 NB Kitchen Party\n \n Send in Your Energy Transition Question Ahead of Time!

SUMMARY:From Implementation to Job Creation: A Western Canada Project Initiation Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Municipal and Indigenous leaders and staffs across Western Canada are being asked to lead their communities through one of the most significant energy landscape shifts in generations\, and most are doing it without a clear map. As most municipal and band offices don’t have in-house clean energy engineering and financing expertise\, nor the networks to find the right partners\, the cost of getting it wrong is real. \nTranslating ambitious plans into a concrete net-zero energy community project – that contributes to the local tax base and creates local jobs – takes a viable business case\, a funding strategy\, and a realistic path from planning\, to initiation\, to implementation – and is a ‘different-level’ next step in the process entirely. \nDesigned to close the gap\, reduce the risk \nCome spend the day with peers from across Manitoba\, Saskatchewan\, Alberta\, and British Columbia to work on similar challenges alongside a group of Subject Matter Experts in sustainable energy project development\, financing\, policy and funding. \nWho should attend? This workshop is designed for municipal and Indigenous community staff members and elected leaders\, and potential project developers\, energy infrastructure builders\, financers\, and professional service providers involved in: \n\nEnergy transition initiatives\, such as community solar\, building retrofits\, electric vehicle infrastructure\nProject planning\, financial management\, and economic development roles\, and\nLocal public engagement and consultation\n\nLocation (see map below): \nLife Sciences Innovation HubInnovate CalgaryUniversity of Calgary3655 36 St NW\, Calgary\, AB T2L 1Y8 \nWhy Attend? Through hands-on sessions\, participants will learn how to advance their community’s energy project concept – refine its scope\, strengthen its financial strategies\, and identify doable next steps. \nParticipants will leave with: \n\nA refined project scope and definition\, and clear critical path\nAn initial financial model and detailed funding strategy\nA solid plan for hiring contractors and managing project execution\nAn increased confidence to navigate a sustainable energy projects’ challenges\, and\nA strong\, local network of funders\, consultants\, and innovative\, experienced solution providers\n\n \n View the Workshop Preliminary Program (pdf)\n \n \n \n \n \n So energy spending stays local \nThis workshop is also about identifying and capturing new economic opportunities\, by helping municipalities and Indigenous communities craft well-designed projects that attract the kind of funding that creates local construction and skilled trades jobs\, supports new service businesses\, generates long-term operations and maintenance roles\, and keeps energy spending circulating within the local economy. \n \n Register for the June 23 Workshop\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Workshop Countdown\n \n \n Day(s) \n \n : \n \n \n Hour(s) \n \n : \n \n \n Minute(s) \n \n : \n \n \n Second(s) \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n SMEs will be there to work with you \nThe working sessions won’t be presentations – they’ll be structured project development time with qualified Subject Matter Experts. You bring your project concept\, and you leave with a clearer scope\, an initial financial framework\, and a set of concrete project initiation next steps. \nParticipants will explore how different types of local energy projects – from community solar and building retrofits\, to EV infrastructure and district energy – will bolster local economic development\, bring skilled new job opportunities\, and support clean energy economy growth across Prairies communities. \nCanada’s transition to low-carbon energy systems represents one of the largest local net-zero development opportunities in decades – with great potential to attract solid investment as we build more resilient local economies. Waiting for the right moment to move an energy project from idea to action? The time is now. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Life Sciences Innovation Hub (LSIH)\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Read Our Community Energy Transition Stories from Western Canada – To-date!\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Okotoks \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Medicine Hat \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n St. Albert \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n St-Pierre-Jolys \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Pincher Creek \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n St. Theresa Point \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Interested in Sponsoring the Workshop?The event will provide high-value exposure\, meaningful engagement directly with municipal and Indigenous project leaders\, and a chance to support local and enclusive\, innovative energy transition solutions.
