SUMMARY:From Plans to Projects: Atlantic Canada's Project Initiation Workshop
DESCRIPTION:November 4–5\, 2025 | Halifax Convention Centre & Volta—Armoyan Centre\, Halifax\, Nova Scotia \nMoving from energy plans to real-world projects is one of the biggest challenges facing municipalities and Indigenous communities working toward a sustainable energy future. QUEST Canada’s Project Initiation Workshops are designed to bridge that gap—offering practical tools\, tailored coaching\, and direct access to funders and technical experts. This two-day intensive workshop in Halifax is for municipal staff and Indigenous community leaders in Atlantic Canada who are actively developing energy or climate projects. Whether you’re exploring community solar\, EV charging infrastructure\, building retrofits\, energy efficiency\, or fleet electrification\, this event is designed to move your project closer to implementation. \nWho Should Attend? This workshop is designed for Indigenous community and municipal staff members involved in: \n\nSustainable energy initiatives such as community solar\, building retrofits\, and electric vehicle infrastructure\nProject planning\, financial management\, and development roles\n\nWhy Attend? Through hands-on sessions\, participants will advance their own energy project concepts—refining scopes\, strengthening financial strategies\, and identifying clear next steps. DESCRIPTION:Join us online for the first meeting of our New Brunswick Net-Zero Communities Accelerator Program Working GroupWith a nod to the East Coast tradition of gathering informally in the kitchen – from where great ideas\, community\, and connections manifest – our first online meeting of the New Brunswick NCA Working Group\, Thursday\, November 20\, 1:30 to 2:30pm AT\, will be presented with an added collaborative feel. \nThe New Brunswick NCA Working Group is a resource for municipal staff participating in QUEST Canada’s Atlantic Net-Zero Communities Accelerator (NCA) Program cohort\, and engaged in community energy transition planning\, partnership-building\, and net-zero energy projects. \nHosted by QUEST Canada’s Lead\, Community Energy Planning & Projects\, Aaliyah Lahai\, the event will aim to make the topic of municipal energy and emissions reduction less daunting. And we’ll be sure to leave ample time for questions and peer-to-peer discussion. \nAbout the Presenters \nTara Ross-Robinson is Chief Administrative Officer\, Clerk\, and Treasurer of the Rural Community of Alnwick. She has over twenty-five years of leadership experience in Justice & Public Safety\, complemented by nine years of service as a Municipal Councillor in Miramichi. \nDallas Gillis’ career path includes Planner with the Goverment of New Brunswick\, and the Rural Planning District Commission\, and Senior Planner with the City of Fredericton. In his current role since 2022\, he is Director of Planning and Compliance with the Town of Oromocto. \nChris MacIntyre is a GHG Mitigation Analyst in Fredericton with the Climate Change Secretariat in the Province’s Department of Environment and Local Government.
